Waterfall in Oceanside, California
I had heard that there was a waterfall in Oceanside but I had not seen it. So off I went in search of this mysterious waterfall that few seemed to even know existed.
To the San Luis Rey Band of Mission Indians, this waterfall is considered a sacred site. According to news reports, the waterfall was a popular recreation spot a century ago.
I was pleased when I parked the car and got out. I could hear it before I saw it. Sitting directly on the border of Carlsbad and Oceanside, the 40-foot El Salto Falls is a pretty waterfall, accessible by coming into the quarry from Haymar Drive, running along Highway 78.
The waterfall can also be seen from atop the embankment behind the Kohl’s Department Store in the Quarry Creek shopping center on Marron Road.
This is a pretty waterfall.
